Role Overview:
BUCO Humansdorp is looking for a responsible and observant Security Checker to join the team. This individual will be tasked with verifying all goods leaving the premises, ensuring correct documentation, and safeguarding the business from loss or theft. The Security Checker will serve as the first and last checkpoint in the customer and supplier interaction process, helping maintain operational integrity and a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and inspect all goods leaving the store and yard, including returns and purchases

Ensure that all sales, deliveries, and returns are supported by valid documentation

Confirm that credit customers sign the Proof of Delivery (POD) documents accurately

Verify that all cash customers have completed payment before goods are released

Conduct vehicle checks before allowing vehicles to enter or leave the premises

Report any suspicious behavior or irregularities to management without delay

Control and monitor boom gate operations

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the visitors logbook

Arrive punctually at assigned post and strictly follow all company security protocols

Assist in managing access control to the premises

Support loss control initiatives as per BUCO’s standard operating procedures

Promote safety and security awareness among staff and customers
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 / Matric
-
At least 1 year of relevant experience in the hardware or retail industry in a similar security or checker role
Key Competencies:

Strong attention to detail and vigilance

Excellent observational skills

Ability to work independently and remain alert during long periods

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Basic understanding of store operations and documentation procedures
