Role Overview
As a Sales Consultant – Paint, your role will focus on understanding customer needs and guiding them to the right products and services. You will be responsible for building strong customer relationships, providing expert advice on paint products, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. This position requires excellent sales skills, a customer-oriented approach, and the ability to manage multiple customer touchpoints throughout the sales process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply an effective sales process to build lasting customer relationships and achieve sales targets.

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by offering expert advice and personalized product recommendations.

  • Engage with customers to understand their specific needs and recommend suitable paint products and services.

  • Provide appropriate solutions for customers, including product selection and available services (delivery, installation, etc.).

  • Identify new business opportunities through an understanding of market trends and customer preferences.

  • Follow up on sales leads and ensure prompt communication through various channels (email, WhatsApp, phone, etc.).

  • Liaise with the Department Manager and merchandisers to ensure popular paint products are well-stocked.

  • Maintain a well-organized and visually appealing store, ensuring proper pricing, cleanliness, and product availability.

  • Participate in commercial action plans, such as promotional events, new product launches, and seasonal campaigns.

  • Assist customers throughout the entire sales process—before, during, and after the sale—ensuring a seamless experience.

  • Help maintain a fully stocked store and support the sales process by keeping the store neat and organized.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification is required.

  • Proven experience as a sales consultant, ideally within the retail or hardware sector (experience in paint products is a plus).

  • A passion for customer service and a desire to help customers make informed decisions.

  • Friendly, confident, and approachable personality with excellent communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an understanding of pricing methodologies.

  • Exceptional customer service skills, ensuring a positive experience at every touchpoint.

  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

  • Ability to take initiative, explore opportunities, and manage customer relationships.

  • Ability to handle a portfolio of customers and guide them through every stage of the sales process.

  • Experience using various sales channels, including email, WhatsApp, phone calls, and in-store interactions.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
