Role Summary:
Bridgestone South Africa is currently seeking a Technical Supervisor/Planner to support operations in Underground Mining at the Bathopele Mine in Rustenburg, with additional responsibilities in Pretoria. This critical role involves overseeing technical support, tyre management, equipment performance, and safety compliance on-site. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of Off The Road (OTR) tyre applications, underground mining operations, and a proven ability to lead within high-pressure, safety-sensitive environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Tyre and Equipment Oversight:

Liaise directly with tyre manufacturers and suppliers to manage warranties and ensure optimal product performance.

Recommend technical improvements to Project Engineers for enhancing tyre performance and cost efficiency in mining operations.

Monitor and report on tyre usage, wear patterns, and site-specific operational challenges.
Quality and Safety Compliance:

Ensure all activities comply with Bridgestone’s high standards and the site’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.

Conduct audits, implement site-specific technical standards, and ensure full adherence to the Organizational Management System (OMS).

Investigate quality issues and initiate corrective actions where necessary.
Technical Reporting and Training:

Provide comprehensive site severity reports and technical presentations.

Manage technical documentation and calibration records for all site equipment.

Deliver on-site training for tools and equipment, while mentoring junior staff on best practices.
Stakeholder Communication:

Act as the primary technical liaison between Bridgestone and the mine site’s senior personnel.

Escalate any technical deficiencies or quality concerns to the appropriate parties for resolution.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
-
Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) – Required

Bachelor of Engineering (Preferred)
-
Certification in Earthmover Tyre Fitting and Stripping (Preferred)

Risk Management Certificate (Preferred)
Experience:
-
Minimum of 4 years of experience in OTR earthmoving equipment operations.

At least 2 years in a supervisory technical role (Preferred).

Proven experience in underground mining environments is essential.

Workplace safety training – NOSA certification (Accepted).
Skills:

Strong technical knowledge of tyre applications and maintenance.

Valid driver’s license.

Computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
