Role Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Sales Assistant for their Baby City Tokai store. This position is primarily focused on providing exceptional customer service, maintaining stock levels, processing payments, and ensuring that merchandising standards are upheld. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, helping them find the right products and creating a welcoming and efficient shopping environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Sales Assistant, your main responsibilities will include:

Customer Service: Provide high-quality assistance to customers, offering advice and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience. Establish professional relationships with customers and report any customer complaints or compliments to management.

Stock Management: Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, and expired or damaged stock to management. Assist with stocktaking, unloading deliveries, and ensuring that products are neatly displayed and within their sell-by dates.

Merchandising: Ensure that products are consistently stocked on shelves, rotated properly, and displayed according to Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards. Prepare displays for promotions and ensure that all promotional materials are placed correctly.

Cash Handling: Process customer payments accurately, including cash, cards, vouchers, and loyalty programs. Ensure all transactions are completed according to Dis-Chem’s cash handling procedures.

Promotions: Ensure that monthly promotions are implemented effectively, ensuring that promotional stock is properly displayed and that promotional materials are in place.

Customer Queries: Address any customer queries, stock availability requests, and ensure that issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
Qualifications and Experience:
To be considered for the Sales Assistant position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent.

Up to 6 months’ retail experience.

At least 1 year work experience within retail.

Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.

Strong command of the English language (both written and oral).

Time management and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Advantageous:

Certification in Retail Business Management is a plus.
