Role Overview:
DSV is seeking a highly skilled Freight Forwarder (Air Export) to join its Sky Services division in Kempton Park. This role focuses on managing export documentation, airline bookings, and client communication for perishable and time-sensitive cargo. The successful candidate will be an experienced airfreight professional, particularly with fresh/chilled fish exports, with solid knowledge of industry regulations, documentation, and systems like CargoWise1.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate end-to-end export documentation including AWBs, SAD500, Phytosanitary certificates, PPECB, and Certificates of Origin.

• Handle all airline bookings, negotiate rates, and secure cargo space based on client and route requirements.

• Liaise with clients telephonically and via email, maintaining professional and responsive communication.

• Track and update clients on shipment statuses daily, ensuring accurate records and timely interventions.

• Maintain bookings lists and manage daily shipment and warehouse planning.

• Work closely with warehouse personnel for deliveries and collections.

• Perform SARS acquittals and ensure all export control documentation is processed and compliant.

• Use CargoWise1 to manage air export processes efficiently and accurately.

• Coordinate with airlines directly for route planning and cargo capacity checks.

• Resolve queries and issues proactively to ensure seamless freight forwarding service.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education: Matric certificate

• Certifications: CAT 6 Training, Part 108 Familiarisation (Health & Safety advantageous)

• Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in airfreight export operations

  • At least 3 years of handling fresh/chilled fish and other perishable exports

  • Strong working knowledge of CargoWise1

  • Experience dealing with airline reservations and rate negotiations

  • Familiarity with export documentation processes and SARS regulations

Computer Literacy:

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Windows platforms

• Excellent operational knowledge of CargoWise1

• Excellent relationship-building abilities with clients and airlines

• Detail-oriented and organized under pressure

• High level of ownership, self-motivation, and accountability

• Strong geographic knowledge and understanding of international airline routes

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative logistics team

• Leadership potential and capability to supervise and coordinate team activities

• Willingness to work overtime and on weekends when required

• Own transport and a valid Code 8 driver’s license
