Role Summary:
Bridgestone is currently seeking a Driver/Tyre Fitter for their mining operation in Oranjemund, servicing the Rosh Pinah region of Namibia. This on-site, full-time position is vital to the safe and efficient fitting, removal, and maintenance of tyres on a range of heavy-duty vehicles and machinery used in underground mining operations. The successful candidate will ensure tyre integrity, adhere to health and safety protocols, manage tyre documentation, and maintain workplace cleanliness, while also supporting asset protection and providing exceptional customer service on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
Tyre Fitting & Removal:
Lift and position motor vehicles using approved methods and equipment. Fit tyres accurately to rims, torque wheel nuts to manufacturer specifications, and ensure correct inflation levels. Identify and report any tyre, rim, or stud-related defects to the Site Supervisor. Match and fit dual wheels properly, brand tyres, clean and paint rims before installation. Perform torque and pressure checks regularly and accurately.
Customer Service: Driver/Tyre Fitter
Interact with customers and site supervisors in a courteous and helpful manner. Present a clean and professional appearance at all times. Respond to queries and concerns promptly while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
Asset Management & Housekeeping:
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including yard, tools, and dressing rooms. Ensure tools and machinery are stored correctly and kept in proper working condition. Prevent damage to company property by adhering to usage guidelines.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Adhere strictly to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS) standards and company policies. Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn correctly and is well-maintained. Avoid endangering self or others during work activities.
Documentation and Reporting:
Complete tyre change slips, survey reports, and timekeeping documentation accurately and on time. Assist with reporting operational anomalies or maintenance issues for further investigation.
General Duties:
Accept and complete reasonable requests related to the scope of tyre and vehicle servicing duties. Exhibit a “go the extra mile” attitude when supporting operational goals and team outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
Standard 7 or equivalent educational background. Basic English literacy for report writing and communication. Valid driver’s license (Preferred but not mandatory for entry-level candidates).
Personal Attributes:
High integrity and strong work ethic. Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Physically fit and capable of handling heavy-duty equipment.
