Role Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking to hire a Casual Frontshop Assistant for our Malvern branch located in Queensburgh, KwaZulu-Natal. This part-time role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in a customer-facing environment and are passionate about ensuring that high merchandising standards are met. The Frontshop Assistant will be responsible for supporting various customer service activities, from processing sales transactions to assisting with stock management and general housekeeping. You will play a key role in ensuring a smooth, efficient, and customer-friendly store operation.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Casual Frontshop Assistant, your primary duties will revolve around ensuring the store is well-stocked, organized, and maintains a high level of customer service. Some of the essential responsibilities include:

Merchandising and Stock Management: Ensure that the full range of products is available on the shelves, neatly displayed, and organized according to Dis-Chem standards. You will monitor stock levels and ensure that items are restocked promptly to avoid stock-outs and maximize sales. This includes checking the stock for expiry dates and rotating stock to maintain freshness.

Customer Service and Sales Transactions: You will be responsible for handling customer transactions at the point of sale. This includes receiving payments via cash, credit cards, vouchers, and other acceptable methods. You will assist with exchanges and returns of merchandise in accordance with Dis-Chem’s policies, ensuring that customers are satisfied with their purchases.

Inventory and Stock Control: Assist with the organization and restocking of merchandise from the storeroom to the sales floor. You will also be involved in counting stock during stock-taking activities and reporting any low, damaged, or expired stock to management promptly.

Housekeeping and Store Maintenance: Maintain a clean and tidy store by ensuring that shelves, stock areas, and display areas are organized. You will also help with the disposal of damaged stock and assist with keeping the back of the store and storage areas clean and safe.

Customer Engagement: Provide customers with helpful, friendly, and courteous assistance. You will be expected to answer questions regarding products, promotions, and services. Building strong relationships with customers through excellent service is key to maintaining high customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Product Knowledge and Continuous Learning: You will be expected to stay up to date with new products and offerings within the store. Knowledge about the store’s products and services will allow you to assist customers more effectively and provide them with relevant recommendations.
Qualifications and Experience:
To be considered for this position, the following qualifications and experience are required:

Essential:

Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent senior certificate.

0 to 6 months of retail experience, particularly in a customer-facing role.

Advantageous:

1 year of work experience in retail, especially within the FMCG or pharmacy sectors.

Certification or formal training in Retail Business Management or a related field.
