As a Shop Assistant, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining a welcoming store environment, and contributing to the store’s sales targets. You will be a key player in ensuring the store operates smoothly and customers have an exceptional shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for various duties that contribute to the success of the store. Your main responsibilities will include:

• Customer Experience: Creating a welcoming, inspirational, and personalized shopping experience for all customers. You will make sure that customers leave the store feeling valued and satisfied.

• Sales and Target Achievement: Driving sales and turnover by motivating your team to achieve sales targets. You will work with your colleagues to ensure the store meets its sales goals.

• Visual Merchandising: Ensuring visual merchandising standards are maintained, creating a beautiful and appealing store atmosphere. Your eye for detail will make the store more inviting and encourage customer purchases.

• Store Maintenance: Keeping the sales floor clean, neat, and fully replenished with stock. You will ensure that the store is always tidy, organized, and well-stocked for customers.

• Stock Management: Effectively managing stock levels to minimize stock losses and shrinkage. You will ensure all products are correctly priced and tagged with price stickers and relevant signage.

• Stocktaking: Participating in stock take and cycle count activities. You will ensure that variance reports are checked, discrepancies are investigated, and stock shortages or issues are escalated to the Area Manager.

• Point of Sale (POS) and Banking Procedures: Ensuring adherence to point of sale and banking procedures. Any concerns will be promptly raised with the Area Manager.

• Operational Procedures: Ensuring that all store standards, policies, and operational procedures are followed. You will ensure smooth daily operations and effective execution of all tasks in the store.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for the position of Shop Assistant, the ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.

• Passion for Retail and Beauty: A genuine interest in cosmetics, retail, and customer service is essential. You should be enthusiastic about beauty and skincare products and eager to share your knowledge with customers.

• Customer Service Skills: You must possess excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and in a friendly manner to customers.

• Work Ethic: A strong work ethic and hands-on attitude are essential. You should be proactive, take initiative, and be willing to go above and beyond to provide great customer experiences.

• Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and public holidays, to meet operational needs of the store.

• Basic Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in email and Microsoft Excel is required to assist with store communication and inventory management.

• Good Communication Skills: Effective communication with customers and team members is essential to ensure smooth operations.

• Physical Stamina: The role requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and be active throughout the workday.

• Sales Ability: You must have the ability to demonstrate and promote products effectively. Creating a buzz in the store that motivates your team and attracts customers is crucial.
