Key Responsibilities
The Senior/Leading Firefighter will be responsible for:

Firefighting Operations: Respond to fires, rescues, hazardous substance incidents, and other emergency situations.

Rescue Operations: Extricate casualties and perform emergency operations as directed by senior officers.

Fire Equipment Management: Operate firefighting equipment and machinery to control and extinguish fires effectively.

Training and Education: Train and mentor employees on firefighting theory and practice, as well as fire safety measures.

Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance on firefighting equipment and vehicles to ensure readiness.

Documentation: Maintain records of occurrences and complete necessary administrative routines.

Safety Compliance: Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations.

Emergency Preparedness: Participate in training drills and simulation exercises to prepare for emergencies.

Community Engagement: Educate on fire safety practices and perform fire safety inspections.
Qualifications and Experience

Education: Minimum Grade 12 qualification.

Certifications: IFSAC Accredited, NFPA 1001 Firefighter II certification, and Firefighter II Certification.

Experience: At least 2–3 years of firefighting experience, including firefighting training.

Licensing: Valid Code C1 driver’s license with a Professional Driver’s Permit (PrDP).

Physical Fitness: Must be medically and physically fit for the role.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of fire prevention procedures and firefighting systems, including knowledge of the classes and chemistry of fire.

Hazmat Experience: Essential experience and knowledge of hazardous materials handling.

EMT Certification: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, with First Aid levels 1–3.
