Job Overview:
PG Group, a leader in the automotive glass industry, is looking for a Millwright to join our team at the Shatterprufe® manufacturing plant in Struandale, Eastern Cape. The Millwright will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of machinery, troubleshooting technical issues, and contributing to the continuous improvement of production processes. This role involves working on both electrical and mechanical systems, with a focus on preventing downtime, ensuring safety, and enhancing overall production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Maintenance and Uptime:
-
Provide technical support during continuous shift operations, focusing on resolving process, mechanical, and electrical issues.

Perform root cause analysis to identify reasons for downtime and implement corrective actions for timely resumption of production.

Preventative Maintenance:
-
Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to prevent unnecessary downtime.
-
Ensure preventative maintenance is performed to support production efficiency and minimize disruptions.

Safety Compliance:
-
Ensure adherence to all safety rules and regulations by personnel and contractors on site, promoting a safe working environment.
-
Actively participate in safety workshops and process improvement discussions.

Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement:
-
Contribute to problem-solving workshops and drive the continuous improvement process by suggesting practical recommendations for process enhancement.

Support the implementation of MDW (Manufacturing Development Workshops) initiatives to improve plant operations.

Effective Communication:

Communicate relevant information to all stakeholders to facilitate decision-making and support business operations.

Critical Job Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:
-
Grade 12 (Matric).
-
Certified Artisan (Trade Tested) Millwright.

Experience:
-
At least 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in both electrical and mechanical engineering.

Minimum of 3 years working in a manufacturing environment, ideally within a production setting.

Knowledge and Skills:

Technical Knowledge:
-
PLC Fault Diagnosis and SCADA Systems.
-
Strong understanding of engineering processes and principles such as hydraulics, pneumatics, and robotics.

Stick welding, welding, cutting, and machining skills.
-
PC and network integration knowledge.
-
Sound understanding of OHSACT (Occupational Health and Safety Act).

Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:

Strong analytical abilities for troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions to minimize production downtime.
