Job Overview
The Contracts Officer will oversee the administration and maintenance of supplier contracts, ensuring they align with internal procurement policies and meet compliance and service quality standards. This role demands expertise in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and system-based contract maintenance. The position also supports the Sourcing Specialist and Procurement Manager in sourcing and contract lifecycle activities, while independently managing one or more procurement commodities based on skill and experience.

Key Responsibilities
The Contracts Officer will be responsible for the creation, implementation, and administration of supplier agreements using Santam’s standard clauses and templates. You will be tasked with maintaining and updating contract details, ensuring systems reflect accurate pricing, terms, and supplier information. The role includes initiating sourcing processes for assigned commodities, issuing and evaluating RFPs, and managing the awarding and ongoing compliance of contracts. You will analyze supplier performance, conduct market research, draft and negotiate agreements, and ensure data is loaded and maintained correctly in procurement systems. A critical part of the role also includes managing supplier diversity and meeting internal procurement performance targets.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a Matric (Grade 12) along with a relevant procurement qualification such as a CIPS diploma or a B.Com in Supply Chain Management. A minimum of three years’ experience in a procurement-related role is essential. Candidates studying toward a CIPS qualification will be considered favorably.

Successful candidates must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization. Strong analytical thinking, issue resolution, stakeholder engagement, and vendor management capabilities are crucial. You should be comfortable negotiating and managing supplier performance, analyzing spend data, and supporting continuous procurement process improvements. A proven track record in delivering results, managing contracts through their lifecycle, and contributing to a resilient and collaborative team environment is required.
