Role Summary:
Shatterprufe® is looking for an experienced and innovative Automation Project Manager to lead technical automation projects across its manufacturing sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving plant capabilities, productivity, and long-term sustainability through automation and advanced engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage automation projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with scope and customer expectations

Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to ensure project progress and handover processes are understood
-
Provide technical automation support to sites, especially in breakdown analysis and cycle time improvements
-
Offer consultation services for complex automation issues to ensure optimal technical solutions
-
Manage machine, equipment, and service suppliers to meet project goals
-
Compile and maintain accurate electronic documentation and ensure all drawings are archived appropriately
-
Ensure software backups are created and shared with site engineering teams after project completion
-
Create training materials and assist in rolling out production training for new systems
-
Ensure clear and effective communication across departments to support business decision-making
Qualifications and Experience:
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Diploma in Electrical Engineering
-
Minimum 8 years of experience in automation project management
-
Experience coordinating diverse technical teams, suppliers, and engineers
Knowledge Required:
-
Automation systems and industrial networks (ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profinet, Modbus TCP, EthernetIP, IO-Link)
-
PLC programming (Allen Bradley and Siemens)
-
SCADA design and development (Wonderware and FactoryTalk View)
-
CAD-based electrical design and documentation
-
Robot configuration (Fanuc preferred)
-
Industrial safety and low/medium voltage circuit design
-
Quality, health, and safety standards in a manufacturing environment
-
Automotive glass manufacturing equipment knowledge
Skills and Competencies:
-
Strong communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
-
Advanced PLC and SCADA programming
-
Microsoft programming languages (Visual Basic or similar)
-
Database experience (preferably MS SQL)
-
Proven track record of successful automation project implementation
-
Analytical thinking and results-driven approach
