Job Purpose
We are looking for a Maintenance Stores Clerk to join our Baking Business Unit/Division in Benoni. This role will involve supporting the maintenance team by managing the stock and inventory of industrial parts, tools, and equipment. You will report to the Maintenance Manager and play a key role in ensuring that maintenance operations run smoothly by facilitating the timely procurement and distribution of required parts and supplies.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management

Check parts catalogues to ensure proper identification of required parts for maintenance tasks.

Issue purchase order numbers and manage the process of receiving shipments from vendors.

Enter receipts and distribution of parts into the computer system for accurate inventory tracking.

Assist the maintenance department in choosing the right parts and tools needed for repairs or maintenance activities.

Conduct periodic stock takes to ensure that all inventory is accounted for accurately.

Replenish stock as shipments arrive, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained efficiently.
Vendor Communication & Procurement

Contact vendors to obtain quotes and pricing for required parts and tools.

Prepare parts requisitions and coordinate with vendors for timely delivery of required materials.

Check vendor packing slips/invoices for accuracy to ensure correct deliveries and proper invoicing.

Issue replacement parts to the maintenance department as needed and ensure timely and accurate distribution.
Stock Management & Reporting

Assist in managing the oil and lubrication stock and ensure proper balance and stock control.

Receive and complete all job cards related to inventory management and parts distribution.

Assist depots with the necessary parts and consumables as required for maintenance tasks.

Ensure that the maintenance stockroom is well-organized and that all industrial parts, tools, and equipment are stored according to safety and operational standards.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
-
Grade 12 or equivalent secondary education.
-
At least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Skills & Knowledge
-
Proficiency in computer systems, especially Excel, Outlook, Word, and inventory management software.

Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Knowledge of industrial parts, tools, and equipment, as well as general stockroom practices and procedures.

Attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.

Excellent communication skills for vendor interaction and internal coordination.
