Job Overview

Nedbank is looking for a Service Consultant to assist clients with banking transactions, educate them on digital and self-service solutions, and ensure smooth in-branch operations. The ideal candidate will have strong client service skills, experience handling cash transactions, and knowledge of digital banking services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Engagement & Digital Banking Assistance

  • Assist clients with downloading and using Nedbank’s online and self-service applications.

  • Educate clients on digital banking features and self-service options.

  • Support clients with transactions such as prepaid airtime/data purchases and statement requests.

  • Build strong, long-term client relationships by providing excellent service and keeping them informed.

  • Identify sales opportunities by recognizing customer needs and referring them to relevant departments.

  • Guide clients through online service requests and ensure their banking needs are met efficiently.

2. Cash Handling & Transaction Processing

  • Handle cash deposits, withdrawals, foreign exchange requests, and inter-bank transfers.

  • Perform daily balancing of branch stock holdings (e.g., bank cards, cash).

  • Manage ATM and self-service devices, ensuring proper loading, maintenance, and cash replenishment.

  • Monitor and minimize discrepancies in cash holdings to prevent financial losses.

  • Follow security policies and compliance guidelines to prevent fraud and unauthorized transactions.

3. Risk & Compliance Management

  • Maintain compliance with Nedbank’s governance, risk, and fraud prevention policies.

  • Ensure counter and drop-safe limits are adhered to.

  • Authenticate client transactions in line with banking security protocols.

  • Destroy outdated stock and ensure proper handling of transactional documents.

4. Operational Excellence & Customer-Centric Approach

  • Provide efficient, knowledgeable service that builds trust with customers.

  • Own client requests from start to finish, ensuring smooth resolution.

  • Manage queue flow in the branch, assisting clients with special needs.

  • Support the branch’s digital transformation by increasing client adoption of self-service banking.

  • Contribute to the branch’s performance by meeting individual and team service targets.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Education Requirements

  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) – Required

  • Preferred: Higher Certificate in Banking Services (NQF5)

Experience Requirements

  • 1 – 2 years of experience in retail banking, client service, cash handling, and digital banking support.

  • Technology-savvy with first-line problem resolution experience.

  • Foreign exchange (forex) experience – an advantage.


Technical & Professional Knowledge

  • Customer service best practices.

  • Nedbank’s product offerings and policies.

  • Cash handling and security compliance.

  • Fraud prevention, governance, and risk management.

  • Basic foreign exchange (forex) principles.
