Job Overview

Absa Bank is seeking a dedicated and motivated Sales Consultant (FAIS) to join its team in Vanderbijlpark. This role is crucial in driving the bank’s growth by increasing the customer base, maximizing customer profitability, and achieving sales targets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for attracting new clients, cross-selling banking and financial products, retaining existing customers, and contributing to the overall sales performance of the branch.

As a Sales Consultant, you will play an essential role in understanding customer needs, offering suitable financial solutions, and ensuring that each client enjoys a seamless banking experience. You will be expected to uphold Absa’s high standards of customer service, compliance, and risk management while working collaboratively with your colleagues to meet the branch’s business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Acquisition & Portfolio Growth

One of the primary responsibilities of the Sales Consultant is to attract and acquire new customers for Absa. This will involve proactive identification of potential clients, engaging with them to understand their financial needs, and recommending suitable products and services.

Additionally, you will be required to cross-sell banking products to existing customers, helping them maximize their financial potential while also increasing the overall profitability of their portfolios. Your ability to build strong, lasting relationships with customers will be critical in ensuring retention and customer loyalty.

2. Sales & Financial Goals

As a Sales Consultant, you will work towards achieving and exceeding branch sales targets by proactively identifying sales opportunities. You will play a key role in promoting Absa’s banking solutions, including personal and business accounts, loans, savings plans, and investment opportunities.

Your performance will be measured against key financial objectives, including customer acquisition, cross-selling rates, and revenue generation. You will need to demonstrate a strong ability to negotiate, persuade, and close deals while maintaining professionalism and integrity.

3. Customer Satisfaction & Risk Management

Providing exceptional customer service is a fundamental aspect of this role. You will be expected to address customer inquiries, resolve concerns, and ensure that clients receive the best possible banking experience. By delivering personalized and value-driven services, you will contribute to customer satisfaction and loyalty.

In addition, compliance with FAIS (Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act) and other banking regulations is crucial. You must ensure that all transactions, recommendations, and interactions adhere to the highest compliance and ethical standards, minimizing any potential business risks.

4. Team & Colleague Support

While individual performance is important, success in this role also depends on collaboration. You will be part of a dynamic team environment, working alongside colleagues to ensure that branch sales and customer service targets are met.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

📌 Education & Qualification:

  • A Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in a relevant field.

📌 Experience & Skills:

  • Prior sales experience in banking, financial services, or retail.

  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.

  • Knowledge of FAIS regulations and financial products.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Goal-driven, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
