Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Senior Cashier to support customer service at the point of sale while ensuring accurate transactions, cash flow management, and a world-class shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Establish professional relationships with customers and adhere to customer service policies and procedures.
- Cash Handling: Process all transactions (cash, bank cards, vouchers, loyalty cards) while maintaining security and accuracy in cash drawers.
- Transaction Management: Ensure that all line voids and price changes are approved and processed according to company standards.
- Sales & Promotions: Stay informed of current sales and promotions, and ensure proper execution at the point of sale.
- Fraud Prevention: Safeguard against fraud by ensuring that personal codes and passwords are restricted and changed regularly. Report suspicious behavior to management.
- Security: Ensure the safe handling of cash, daily takings, and outgoing stock, following Dis-Chem’s security policies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- 3 years cashier/till operations experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical skills
- Strong command of English (written and oral)
- Basic customer service knowledge
- Willing to work retail hours
Competencies:
- Cash Register Operations: In-depth knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
- Accuracy & Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure transactions are processed correctly and efficiently.
- Emotional Intelligence & Problem-Solving: Ability to manage difficult situations with customers and colleagues.
- Time Management & Accountability: Ability to manage tasks efficiently and be responsible for the cash handling process.
Advantageous:
- Third additional language (helpful but not required)
