Purpose of the Job
Impala Bafokeng is seeking a skilled Shaft Planner to plan, direct, and oversee the organisation’s planning activities to ensure maximum compliance with strategic production goals.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:
- Grade 12 with Maths and Science (Essential)
- Degree/Diploma (NQF 6/7) in Mining, Geology, Mineral Resource Management, or Rock Engineering (Essential)
- Advanced Chamber of Mines Certificate (Survey/Rock Engineering), Mine Overseer Certificate, or MDP (Advantageous)
- Experience:
- At least 5 years in an underground supervisory or related Technical Services role (Essential)
- Experience with Datamine systems (Essential)
- Knowledge of underground stope and development planning (Essential)
- Strong understanding of mining layouts
- Additional Requirements:
- Proficiency in MS Office & Datamine systems
- Valid EB (Code 08) Driver’s Licence and own transport (Advantageous)
- Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one

Key Responsibilities
- Developing logical graphic designs to provide direction for medium- and long-term layouts
- Maintaining layouts and creating new designs
- Coordinating pre-planning meetings
- Managing Short-Term Planning & Booking Tools, including:
- Short-Term Planning Calendar
- Plan Compliance and Reporting
- Quality control of planning processes
- Mining instructions and daily booking compliance
- A3 Planning Sheet Compliance
- User training and support
- Aligning key stakeholders to meet production targets
- Providing problem-solving support to the production department
- Updating monthly panel statuses, reports, and face length graphs
- Compiling monthly management reports
- Analysing and reporting variances between short-, medium-, and long-term plans
