Purpose of the Job

Impala Bafokeng is seeking a skilled Shaft Planner to plan, direct, and oversee the organisation’s planning activities to ensure maximum compliance with strategic production goals.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:
    • Grade 12 with Maths and Science (Essential)
    • Degree/Diploma (NQF 6/7) in Mining, Geology, Mineral Resource Management, or Rock Engineering (Essential)
    • Advanced Chamber of Mines Certificate (Survey/Rock Engineering), Mine Overseer Certificate, or MDP (Advantageous)
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years in an underground supervisory or related Technical Services role (Essential)
    • Experience with Datamine systems (Essential)
    • Knowledge of underground stope and development planning (Essential)
    • Strong understanding of mining layouts
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Proficiency in MS Office & Datamine systems
    • Valid EB (Code 08) Driver’s Licence and own transport (Advantageous)
    • Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing logical graphic designs to provide direction for medium- and long-term layouts
  • Maintaining layouts and creating new designs
  • Coordinating pre-planning meetings
  • Managing Short-Term Planning & Booking Tools, including:
    • Short-Term Planning Calendar
    • Plan Compliance and Reporting
    • Quality control of planning processes
    • Mining instructions and daily booking compliance
    • A3 Planning Sheet Compliance
    • User training and support
  • Aligning key stakeholders to meet production targets
  • Providing problem-solving support to the production department
  • Updating monthly panel statuses, reports, and face length graphs
  • Compiling monthly management reports
  • Analysing and reporting variances between short-, medium-, and long-term plans
