Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute departmental business plans aligned with the SBU’s merchandise strategy.
  • Manage forecasts to hit growth and profitability targets per the Business Plan.
  • Create merchandise assortment plans supporting departmental strategy.
  • Ensure stock inflows maintain agreed replenishment levels for growth and profitability.
  • Provide timely, accurate merchandise data to reduce risks and seize opportunities.
  • Lead project plans to meet set objectives (if applicable).

Qualifications

  • Essential: Grade 12 certificate.
  • Preferred:
    • B.Comm./B.Sc. in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Stats, or Business Science.
    • National Diploma in Internal Auditing, Cost & Management Accounting, or Financial Information Systems.

Knowledge

  • Retail merchandise cycle (Buying, Planning, Logistics, Stores).
  • Seasonal and non-seasonal replenishment.
  • SA retail clothing market, customers, and competitors.

Skills

  • Strong commercial and numerical ability.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Planning, organization, and time management.
  • Conflict resolution.

  • Preferred:
    • Replenishment and assortment planning.
    • Store planning or management (1-2 years).
    • Logistics and supply chain exposure.
    • Planning systems and advanced Excel skills (Microsoft Word/Excel required).
