Purpose of the Job

Impala Bafokeng is looking for an Instrumentation Foreman to supervise the instrumentation team in the safe design, installation, repair, and maintenance of instrumentation equipment.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:
    • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 / STD 10 (Essential)
    • S2 / N4 plus a recognized Instrumentation Trade Test (Essential)
  • Experience:
    • 4 years of working experience as a qualified Instrument Plant Mechanician
  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to work on PLC Equipment (Siemens PLC infrastructure, Profibus, etc.)
    • Understanding of fault-finding techniques on field instrumentation
    • Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering principles
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Computer literacy (MS Office package) and SAP knowledge (Essential)
    • Valid driver’s license (Code B) and own transport
    • Valid medical certificate or ability to obtain one

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise instrumentation maintenance activities
  • Direct mechanicians based on emergency priorities from production
  • Report to Instrumentation Specialist and C&I Engineer on all activities and challenges
  • Guide and assist instrument mechanicians in solving technical issues
  • Analyze daily operational challenges and maintain a healthy service relationship with personnel
  • Schedule and oversee major planned maintenance on control instrumentation
  • Stay informed on new instrumentation technologies for possible system upgrades
  • Perform standby duties as required
