Job Summary:
Pedros is seeking a Senior Employee Relations Consultant to oversee and manage the handling of disciplinary processes, conciliations, arbitrations, and the maintenance of positive employer-employee relations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all actions comply with company policies and South African labour law.
Key Responsibilities:
Chairing Disciplinary Hearings:
- Lead and facilitate disciplinary hearings ensuring fairness, adherence to company policies, and labour laws.
- Assess evidence, question witnesses, and issue findings and sanctions where necessary.
Conciliations & Dispute Resolution:
- Represent the company at CCMA and other dispute resolution forums.
- Conduct pre-conciliation efforts to minimize litigation risks and draft arguments in conciliation proceedings.
Arbitrations & Legal Representation:
- Prepare and present cases during arbitration, working with legal counsel to protect the company’s interests.
Advisory & Compliance Support:
- Provide expert advice on employee relations matters and ensure compliance with labour law.
- Conduct training for line managers on handling workplace discipline and dispute resolution.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of hearings, CCMA cases, and resolutions.
- Provide reports to senior management on trends and risks.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or Law.
- 3-5 years’ experience in employee relations, labour law, or HR dispute resolution.
- Strong knowledge of South African labour law and CCMA procedures.
- Experience in chairing hearings and representing employers at the CCMA.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong case preparation and legal document drafting abilities.
