Purpose of the Role

The Store Manager is responsible for leading store operations, achieving sales targets, and delivering exceptional customer service. Duties include managing stock, driving sales, overseeing merchandising, reducing risks, training staff, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Customer Service

  • Drive and promote sales by ensuring world-class customer service.
  • Maintain high store standards, including merchandising, pricing, and stock availability.
  • Analyze store sales data and identify opportunities for growth.

2. Inventory & Stock Management

  • Oversee stock receiving, stock counts, and manage expiry dates.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels and ensure effective stock rotation.
  • Minimize stock losses through accurate stock control.

3. Team Leadership & Performance

  • Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing team.
  • Build and support a strong company culture based on appreciation and recognition.
  • Conduct staff coaching, performance management, and ensure high engagement.

4. Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee store opening and closing procedures, security, and cash management.
  • Implement and uphold company policies and operational procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification (a tertiary qualification is an advantage).
Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Store Manager or Assistant Manager (FMCG retail experience preferred).
License: Valid driver’s license (own vehicle preferred).
Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and market trends.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
