Purpose of the Role
The Loading Supervisor is responsible for coordinating loading activities, managing warehouse operators, and ensuring load stabilization. This role is crucial for maintaining accuracy, quality, and safety during the loading process, ensuring the efficient and secure transportation of goods.
Key Responsibilities
1. Loading Supervision & Quality Control
- Oversee warehouse operators in performing loading and counting activities.
- Ensure proper securing and stabilization of goods in trucks/containers.
- Conduct inspections to verify product quality, accuracy, and compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of loaded items for inventory tracking.
- Ensure vehicle temperature settings comply with specifications.
- Monitor loading consumables (e.g., pallet wrap, cello-tape, seals).
2. Team Leadership & Training
- Train and coach warehouse staff to enhance loading and counting skills.
- Organize daily, weekly, and monthly team meetings.
- Address industrial relations issues and provide necessary coaching.
- Monitor team performance and contribute to achieving operational goals.
3. Safety & Compliance
- Conduct equipment spot checks and ensure staff PPE compliance.
- Ensure pre-use inspections and proper maintenance of loading equipment.
- Enforce safety standards and regulations to prevent workplace accidents.
- Promote a safe work environment through continuous training and monitoring.
4. Coordination & Problem-Solving
- Work closely with logistics, inventory control, and distribution teams.
- Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, inventory discrepancies, and other loading constraints.
- Optimize loading efficiency, accuracy, and productivity to meet operational targets.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in FMCG retail.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and competitive environment.
