Job Overview

The Sales Team Leader will play a crucial role in leading, motivating, and driving the sales strategy for products sold by the sales executives and call center agents. This individual will be responsible for driving sales targets, ensuring lead conversions, and motivating the team to perform at high levels. The ideal candidate will come from a short-term insurance background, with experience in managing a scripted sales approach within a call center environment.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Execution

✔️ Lead a team of 10-15 agents to execute sales strategies and maximize sales revenue.
✔️ Collaborate with peers to define and execute a sales business plan.
✔️ Drive the forecasting and adjustment of sales plans to meet yearly goals.
✔️ Build a culture of exceptional customer experience across all channels.
✔️ Initiate corrective actions based on performance insights from other departments.

Sales Growth & Performance

✔️ Manage a successful omni-channel that meets/exceeds daily sales metrics.
✔️ Create and maintain a world-class sales culture by coaching and developing teams.
✔️ Work closely with Sales Managers and Marketing to drive strategy.
✔️ Leverage performance metrics to coach and develop team members.
✔️ Collaborate with other managers to ensure alignment of goals and strategy.

Leadership & Team Management

✔️ Provide vision and direction to team members, ensuring a culture of accountability.
✔️ Manage poor performance in line with company procedures.
✔️ Support team members in their career development, training, and mentoring.
✔️ Lead change management efforts, ensuring the team is adaptable and learning.

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

✔️ Provide monthly and quarterly reports on sales performance, including trends and improvement plans.
✔️ Analyze productivity and performance data for continuous improvement.
✔️ Ensure compliance with sales processes, retentions, and service level metrics.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric) with English & a second language (preferably an ethnic language).
Undergraduate/Postgraduate qualification in a related field (Advantageous).
3-5 years’ experience in client service and/or sales.
✅ Previous call center sales experience in a short-term insurance environment (preferred).
✅ Proven experience in managing a team in a contact center environment.
