Key Purpose
As the Assistant Store Manager, you will be responsible for achieving store sales targets, delivering outstanding customer service, and efficiently managing the day-to-day operations of the store, in line with the company’s standards and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate staff to meet sales targets and foster a positive, enthusiastic environment.
  • Collaborate with sales merchandisers, representatives, and regional managers to evaluate and improve sales strategies and results.
  • Enforce top-tier customer service to ensure a WOW experience for all customers.
  • Address each customer’s individual shopping needs, always prioritizing customer satisfaction.
  • Develop, train, and inspire teams with an enthusiastic approach.
  • Manage and support store staff performance through recruitment, coaching, counseling, and discipline.
  • Authorize work schedules, including breaks, shifts, and leave.
  • Ensure ongoing training and development of staff.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to employees, following up to ensure results.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally and calmly.
  • Manage daily store operations, maximizing sales while adhering to budgeted expenses and stock management protocols.
  • Minimize controllable expenses and costs, protecting company assets and reducing shrinkage, damages, and theft.
  • Execute physical action plans to achieve desired sales results, including motivating staff to meet targets.
  • Keep accurate records of stock and financial transactions.
  • Perform daily floor walks, ensuring warehouse stock and overstock replenishments.
  • Enforce all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain merchandise and housekeeping standards in line with company expectations.
  • Coordinate and manage key service providers such as security, cleaning, and logistics.
  • Oversee the execution of all sales promotions, ensuring timely and efficient implementation.
  • Identify marketing opportunities and share with relevant stakeholders.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Matric Certificate
  • Own or reliable transport to work (required for shift work)
  • A minimum of 3 years’ management experience in a retail environment
