Introduction
Sasol is seeking a VP for Capital Project Procurement to lead and oversee capital procurement activities across all Southern Africa capital projects. This role will be pivotal in driving the strategic objectives of capital procurement, managing key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring compliance with all safety, governance, and regulatory requirements.

Purpose of Job
This leadership role is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing capital portfolio sourcing strategies in alignment with the P&E and Supply Chain strategy. The VP will manage capital project procurement activities, including project sourcing strategies, contracting, contract management, claims management, and project closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capital Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement sourcing strategies for capital projects, understanding current and future demand and supply of engineering and construction services.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong internal and external networks to achieve capital procurement objectives across the Southern Africa value chain.
  • Opportunity Identification: Originate and identify potential integration opportunities to maximize commercial value and meet capital project cost and schedule commitments.
  • Risk Management: Ensure effective commercial risk management across capital projects while adhering to regulatory requirements and Sasol’s risk appetite.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of capital procurement professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Safety & SHE Practices: Support the implementation of evidence-based SHE practices to ensure safety on capital projects.
  • Procurement Execution: Oversee procurement activities, including negotiations, management of strategic EPC agreements, and the mitigation of project risks.
  • Performance Management: Continuously measure and monitor the performance of capital procurement, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and key performance indicators.

Formal Education

  • Relevant university degree
  • Postgraduate qualification (preferred)

Experience

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in the Energy or Chemicals industry, preferably in a capital project environment.
