Job Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cleaner to join our Lydenburg store. The successful candidate will ensure the store is maintained in a clean and hygienic condition, meeting Dis-Chem’s cleanliness standards across all designated areas, including the shop floor, stock room, dispensary, admin office, and canteen.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the store before opening.
• Develop cleaning routines to ensure all areas are consistently maintained.
• Ensure the canteen and restrooms are stocked and clean at all times.
• Be available throughout operational hours to clean when required.
• Use appropriate cleaning products and equipment for specific tasks.
• Display the wet floor sign when cleaning to prevent hazards.
• Assist customers in a friendly and professional manner when needed.
• Follow all Health and Safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

• Essential: Grade 12 / Matric

Experience:

• Essential: At least 6 months of cleaning experience
• Advantageous: Previous retail store cleaning experience

Skills & Competencies

Essential:

• Prior cleaning experience
• Good command of English (written and oral)
• Strong attention to detail
• Time management skills
• Trustworthy and honest
• Customer service skills
• Ability to take instructions and follow through

Advantageous:

• Bilingual communication skills
• Prior retail store cleaning experience

Special Conditions of Employment

• Willing and able to work retail hours
• Physically fit for walking, standing, climbing, kneeling, bending, and lifting objects
• Reliable transport or residence near the store
• South African citizen
• Clear credit and criminal records
