Introduction
Sasol is looking for two Despatch Controllers to join the team in Sasolburg. As part of this role, you will be responsible for inspecting transport vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety standards, managing vehicle dispatch, and handling the necessary documentation. Purpose of Job
The Despatch Controller is responsible for performing safety inspections on vehicles, ensuring they meet compliance requirements, and managing the dispatch process. This includes inspecting vehicles, managing vehicle bookings, and maintaining records of transport movements and driver information.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle and Driver Inspections: Conduct visual inspections of vehicles and drivers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and documentation standards.
- Issuing Certificates: Provide inspection certificates for vehicles that pass safety checks.
- Defect Reporting: Report any defects on vehicles or driver documentation, and reject any vehicle that fails the inspection.
- Vehicle Movements: Monitor and track vehicle movements to ensure the timely dispatch of goods.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with drivers and other personnel to facilitate smooth vehicle dispatch processes.
- Housekeeping: Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the dispatch area and buildings.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of driver and vehicle information, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Issuance of Dispatch Documents: Provide the necessary documentation for dispatched vehicles.
Formal Education
- High School/School Diploma or similar, with Math and Science.
Working Experience
- Less than 1 year of experience.
Required Personal and Professional Skills
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with drivers and other teams.
- Process Safety/Environmental Awareness: Knowledge of safety processes in transportation.
- Transporting Loads: Understanding of transportation logistics and load planning.
- Traffic and Vehicle Planning: Ability to manage and coordinate vehicle schedules.
- Customer Focus: Ability to maintain focus on customer satisfaction and service.
- Decision Quality: Ability to make informed decisions regarding vehicle safety and dispatch.
- Materials Movement: Understanding of how materials are moved within logistics operations.
- Action-Oriented: Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
- Accountability: Ability to take responsibility for your actions and ensure operational excellence.
- Logistics Administration and Analysis: Ability to manage logistics data and perform administrative tasks efficiently.
