Job Purpose
The Stock Controller will manage and monitor stock levels, ensuring accurate stock control, effective supplier returns, and variance management. The role involves cycle counting, investigating discrepancies, and providing critical stock performance and variance data to the operator.
Key Responsibilities
- Report Checking: Review and validate stock reports, including stock-outs and cost reports.
- Supplier Returns: Manage and process supplier returns.
- Cycle Counting: Keep the cycle counter up to date and ensure regular stock takes.
- Stock Variances: Validate stock variances and investigate discrepancies in stock levels.
- Stock Clearance: Address and manage negative stock clearance.
- Bin Locations: Maintain accurate bin locations for all stock.
- Risk Management: Investigate and manage bad-risk stock.
- Stock Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of stock and ensure efficient stock movement.
- Variance Data: Provide stock variance data to the operator for analysis.
- Reports: Run necessary reports such as no stock/no demand and deletion reports.
Requirements
Education/Training
- Grade 12
Experience
- 3 years of stock control experience.
- Alternatively, a Certificate in Retailing (NQF 5) or Certificate in Retail Operations Management (NQF 5).
If no certificate, at least 3 of the following skills programmes:
- Understanding factors that impact the bottom line in a W&R unit.
- Supervising loss control measures.
- Supervising stock counts.
- Replenishing stock in a retail business.
- Managing stock holding procedures in wholesale and retail.
- Picking, moving, packing, and maintaining stock in a distribution centre.
- Receiving and dispatching stock from a distribution centre.
