🔹 Job Purpose & Overview
We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to oversee laminate production operations at our Springs plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing shift performance, ensuring that production meets expected targets, minimizing losses, and maintaining a safe and motivated workforce.
This role is crucial in ensuring that all production processes are efficient, safe, and aligned with world-class manufacturing standards.
📌 Key Responsibilities
✅ Manage shift performance by ensuring that production targets are met through effective use of resources, including time management, raw materials, and PPE
✅ Monitor output versus planned production goals, identifying and addressing any losses or inefficiencies
✅ Enforce safety regulations in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees
✅ Conduct regular training sessions and ensure employees follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and risk assessments
✅ Develop and upskill employees by creating individual development plans, coaching team members, and improving flexibility in shop floor operations
✅ Implement world-class manufacturing practices such as Visual Performance Management (VPM), 5S methodology, teamwork initiatives, and continuous improvement projects
✅ Manage and evaluate employee performance, implementing disciplinary measures when required
✅ Ensure that distribution processes are followed, supporting on-time, in-full (OTIF) deliveries of high-quality laminated glass products
✅ Drive production efficiency by utilizing SAP (Production & HR Modules) for data tracking, reporting, and decision-making
🎓 Minimum Requirements
Education & Qualifications
✔ Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
✔ Technical Tertiary Qualification or Diploma in Production Management
Work Experience
✔ 8+ years experience in a manufacturing/technical environment
✔ 5+ years of general management experience in a production setting
✔ Proven ability to manage shift operations and oversee business unit functions
✔ Experience in hands-on manufacturing operations
🛠 Required Skills & Competencies
✔ Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly HR policies and safety compliance
✔ Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote – Intermediate level)
✔ Experience with SAP (Production & HR Modules) for efficient production and workforce management
✔ Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills
✔ Ability to motivate and coach employees to drive high-performance standards
✔ Decision-making, assertiveness, and problem-solving skills
✔ Technical knowledge in engineering, manufacturing, and stock control (MRP processes)
✔ Conflict resolution and people management skills to handle challenges effectively
