Role Purpose:
The Senior Warehouse Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the distribution centre in Cape Town. The role includes managing all warehouse processes, ensuring that stock is delivered on time and in full while staying within budget. This includes maintaining optimal operational standards, driving continuous improvement, and providing exceptional customer service within the supply chain.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management (required)
- Accounting diploma (advantageous)
- 10 years of experience in a warehouse/logistics environment, with at least 5 years in a warehouse management role
- Proven track record in leading large teams and ensuring operational success
- Expertise in WMS systems, RF scanning, and continuous improvement practices
- Ability to manage a PnL (Profit and Loss) and drive financial performance
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency in data analysis
Duties and Responsibilities:
Finance & PnL Management:
- Monitor costs within the established budget and ensure financial controls are maintained
- Validate and process invoices and purchase orders (POs)
- Manage Live PnL and generate weekly reports on financial performance and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Warehouse & Logistics Operations:
- Ensure optimal DC layout for efficient stock flow
- Oversee WMS functionality and ensure seamless service delivery with Logistics & Transport teams
- Manage inbound, put away, replenishment picking, and dispatch processes
- Supervise all warehouse managers and supervisors, conducting daily meetings and setting performance targets
Equipment Maintenance & Management:
- Sign off on service and maintenance schedules for warehouse equipment
- Assess and manage maintenance costs for operational efficiency
- Implement corrective actions based on incident reports
Communication & Staff Management:
- Lead daily communications with internal teams, stores, and Head Office
- Recruit, train, and mentor staff while managing succession planning
- Review KPIs regularly to address issues and ensure floor operations run smoothly
Health & Safety & Security:
- Conduct periodic health and safety audits, ensuring compliance with all standards
- Oversee security operations, manage camera equipment, and review security costs
Shrinkage Control & Pallet Management:
- Oversee shrinkage control, including theft, damage, and errors in receiving and dispatch
- Manage the Chep pallet process and ensure accurate pallet tracking and reconciliation
