🔹 Job Purpose & Overview
We are seeking a Production Planner to manage and coordinate production scheduling at our Neave plant. This role involves demand planning, scheduling production resources, and optimizing workflow efficiency to ensure the smooth flow of glass products while considering operational constraints.
The Production Planner will play a key role in balancing production demand, maintaining target Work in Progress (WIP) levels, and ensuring on-time order fulfillment.
📌 Key Responsibilities
✅ Demand Planning: Manage daily demand forecasting across Export, Aftermarket Replacement Glass (ARG), and Original Equipment (OE) divisions, ensuring alignment with customer release schedules
✅ Production Scheduling: Plan and schedule all work centers and resources, considering capacity, constraints, and cost efficiency, while maintaining optimal WIP levels
✅ Raw Material Management: Oversee the raw glass launch process, ensuring a balanced market mix to maintain target production volumes and business performance
✅ System Integrity & Risk Management: Monitor open production orders, identifying system anomalies, and escalating issues to minimize delivery risks and financial losses
✅ Daily Communication & Urgent Order Prioritization: Provide daily production schedules to plant teams, ensuring urgent parts are prioritized and production targets are met
✅ Order Fulfillment & Backlog Management: Track weekly backlog figures across all markets, ensuring stock availability, order fulfillment, and on-time delivery
✅ Performance Management: Supervise and hold staff accountable through performance evaluations, mentoring, and talent development
✅ Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing: Implement lean management principles, root cause analysis, and Theory of Constraints methodologies to improve efficiency and productivity
✅ Stakeholder Communication: Ensure clear and effective communication with all relevant teams to support data-driven decision-making
🎓 Minimum Requirements
Education & Qualifications
✔ Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
✔ Diploma in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or Production Management
Work Experience
✔ 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to supply chain, production planning, or process improvement
✔ 3+ years experience in a planning role within the automotive industry
🛠 Required Skills & Competencies
✔ Strong knowledge of production planning methodologies, including Theory of Constraints
✔ Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and root cause analysis
✔ Proficiency in SAP/APO for planning and production tracking
✔ Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
✔ Conceptual reasoning ability – capable of thinking at both operational and strategic levels
✔ Strong organizational and time management skills
✔ Ability to set priorities, identify issues, and implement solutions effectively
