PPC is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Human Resources team at our Rosebank, Johannesburg office. As a key player in the payroll function, you will manage end-to-end payroll processes, ensure compliance with statutory regulations, and assist in employee tax administration while supporting broader HR activities.

🎯 Role Overview
As a Payroll Officer, your responsibilities will include:
✔ Overseeing the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payroll calculations
✔ Ensuring compliance with SA Tax Legislation, the BCEA, LRA, and other statutory regulations
✔ Managing employee-related tax matters such as PAYE and assisting with statutory reconciliations
🔹 Key Responsibilities
📊 Payroll Processing & Compliance
✔ End-to-end payroll processing and reporting, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution
✔ Implement best practices for payroll efficiency and consult with HR to improve HRIS processes
✔ Ensure compliance with labour laws, POPI Act, Tax Legislation, and other related policies
✔ Administer monthly statutory reconciliations (SARS, UIF, SDL) and ensure payments are accurate and timely
✔ Handle payroll queries and provide feedback to employees
✔ Administer Timesheet input including leave, overtime, and shift allowances
🔍 HRIS & Payroll System Management
✔ Support Payroll System management and lead UAT processes for system changes
✔ Ensure data completeness and integrity in the payroll system
✔ Provide feedback to the HR team on potential system improvements
💼 Employee Tax & Benefits
✔ Manage employee tax activities (e.g., IRP 5 submissions) and ensure compliance with Tax Legislation
✔ Support Annual Increases, Bonus activities, and salary adjustments
✔ Administer WCA, COID payments, and annual returns
✔ Provide support for expatriate contracts and manage the loan application process
📈 HR Analytics & Reporting
✔ Prepare HR statistical reports related to payroll data and provide business insights
✔ Analyze labour costing, productivity measures, and labour efficiencies to improve business operations
✔ Support headcount management activities, including annual budgeting processes
🎓 Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications
✔ Matric (Grade 12)
✔ Payroll Diploma or relevant tertiary education
Experience & Knowledge
✔ 5+ years of payroll experience in manufacturing, mining, or unionised environments
✔ Strong understanding of SA tax legislation and employment tax
✔ Experience using SAP
✔ Knowledge of labour laws, including BCEA and LRA
Skills & Competencies
✔ Exceptional time management and organizational skills
✔ Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
✔ Ability to maintain data integrity and ensure compliance
✔ High attention to detail and accuracy
✔ SAP Superuser experience
