Are you an experienced Facility Manager with a passion for operational efficiency, safety management, and security protocols? Boxer Retail Limited is seeking a Facility Manager for our Distribution Centre (DC) in Polokwane, Limpopo. This is a permanent opportunity to join one of South Africa’s top retail companies. As a proactive and solution-oriented professional, you’ll oversee daily facility operations, maintenance management, and safety protocols within a logistics distribution environment.
Purpose of the Role:
As the DC Facility Manager, you’ll be responsible for the efficient operation, safety, and security of the Distribution Centre. You will manage all critical infrastructure systems, including fire safety, plumbing, electrical systems, facility maintenance, and space optimization. You’ll ensure the facility operates within regulatory standards and maintain the highest levels of operational excellence.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (essential)
- 3-year degree in Facilities Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in a distribution or logistics environment
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, building maintenance, and cost management
- Proven experience managing maintenance budgets and negotiating with vendors
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
Facility & Maintenance Management:
- Manage critical systems such as generators, firefighting equipment, electric fences, and CCTV systems
- Ensure warehouse facilities including racking, air conditioning, and electric systems are properly maintained
- Conduct regular inspections, prioritize maintenance issues, and find cost-effective solutions
- Oversee space optimization and ensure maximum efficiency within the facility
Safety & Security:
- Manage security protocols to protect assets, staff, and the warehouse premises
- Oversee incident investigations, monitor CCTV footage, and report on security occurrences
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards
- Lead crisis management efforts as needed
Vendor & Contract Management:
- Negotiate maintenance contracts, manage budgets, and maintain vendor relationships
- Ensure timely execution of facility services with third-party vendors
- Track maintenance spending and uncover cost-saving opportunities
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of maintenance and security professionals
- Facilitate continuous training to ensure industry best practices in facility management and security
