Job Overview
RCL FOODS is looking for a Team Leader: Packaging to join our Pies operating unit in Krugersdorp. The successful candidate will oversee packing and palletizing frozen products, ensuring they meet company specifications and are transferred into the bulk freezer.
Minimum Requirements
✔ Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
✔ 3 – 5 years experience in a production plant/environment
Key Responsibilities
1️⃣ Pre-Start-Up Checks
- Ensure packaging materials are available as per production plan
- Conduct safety checks on production lines, X-ray machines, and conveyor belts
- Verify emergency stop buttons and safety covers are functional
- Ensure packaging and palletizing staff have the correct PPE
- Confirm startup labelers are prepared
- Review Big Mama Plan for the day
2️⃣ Allocation of Resources
- Assign pastry department plans/recipes for different pastry types
- Ensure enough blue Chep pallets are available for palletizing
- Enforce strict compliance with packaging guidelines
- Monitor product temperatures throughout the packing process
- Ensure all production line specifications are met
3️⃣ Overseeing Operator Activities
- Regularly check finished product temperatures
- Track and report damages and donations
- Ensure packaging areas run at full capacity
- Record waste and machine downtime
- Minimize waste from dropped pies
- Enforce plant rules and proper housekeeping
- Coach and mentor team members
4️⃣ Stock Taking at End of Shift
- Record all packaging raw materials used
- Provide handover details to the next shift
5️⃣ Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure adherence to legal & company safety policies
6️⃣ Quality & Food Safety
- Implement and improve the Quality and Food Safety system
- Ensure compliance with SOPs and food safety regulations
