Job Overview
RCL FOODS is looking for a Basic Operator to join our Spreads Division in Boksburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining equipment in the packing hall, ensuring that finished products are efficiently packed according to production requirements.
Minimum Requirements
✔ Education:
- N3 / NQF Level 3 / Matric Certificate
Key Responsibilities
⚙ Machine Operation & Maintenance:
- Perform pre-start inspections, start-up, and shutdown of machinery as per SOPs
- Operate and maintain equipment efficiently
- Adjust machine settings and perform variant/size changeovers on selected equipment
- Conduct basic maintenance tasks (cleaning, lubricating, inspecting, tightening)
- Assist artisans during major breakdowns
📦 Material Handling & Production Support:
- Ensure timely retrieval of materials from storage
- Support the Line Operator with end-of-production tasks and stock reconciliation
- Complete hourly plant monitoring logs and other required records
🔍 Quality Control & Safety Compliance:
- Conduct visual quality checks on materials and finished products
- Report deviations and take corrective actions when necessary
- Follow company safety procedures and regulations
- Identify and eliminate potential SHE hazards
🔧 Continuous Improvement & Problem-Solving:
- Participate in structured problem-solving (e.g., 5 Why methodology)
- Propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives
🤝 Team Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the Line Operator and Production Shift Manager
- Maintain a healthy team dynamic and escalate issues proactively
