Job Overview
Empact Group is looking for a dedicated and experienced Assistant Catering Manager to support food service operations in a healthcare environment. The ideal candidate should have strong leadership abilities, knowledge of HACCP, and experience managing kitchen operations while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
🍽 Daily Operations Management – Oversee and assist with kitchen operations and food service activities.
🛠 Production Process Implementation – Ensure smooth execution of food preparation and delivery.
💰 Cost Control – Manage food and labor costs within budget guidelines.
📋 Compliance & Food Safety – Ensure adherence to HACCP, HSE, and other regulatory standards.
📌 Menu Planning & Special Diets – Develop and implement menus, including healthcare-specific dietary needs.
👨🍳 Team Leadership – Manage and support the kitchen brigade for smooth day-to-day operations.
📊 Strategic & Operational Support – Assist with long-term planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
✔ Relevant tertiary qualification in Food & Beverage Services or Culinary Arts (Compulsory)
✔ Minimum 3 years of progressive kitchen management experience (Compulsory)
✔ Experience managing budgets and costs effectively (Compulsory)
✔ High-volume food service operations experience (Highly desirable)
✔ Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting (Advantageous)
✔ Strong knowledge of HACCP & HSE regulations (Advantageous)
✔ Special diets knowledge (Compulsory)
Key Competencies
🔹 Comprehensive knowledge of catering operations, from fine dining to large-scale food service
🔹 Understanding of industry regulations and South African catering laws
🔹 Strong leadership and management skills
