Job Overview:

AVBOB is seeking a Pension Administrator to join their Pension Fund Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and administering the pension arrangements for eligible individuals, ensuring compliance with pension-related legislation and policies. The role involves day-to-day administration of pension benefits for AVBOB employees, ensuring the integrity of processes and providing effective communication with employees regarding their pension benefits.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Pension Fund Administration:
    • Administer pension fund arrangements in line with AVBOB pension fund rules and related legislation.
    • Handle salary closure processes, including maternity leave, transfers, new and terminated members.
    • Process and reconcile pension contributions on General Ledger, People Salary System, and Old Mutual Corporate Business Payroll systems.
    • Process pension payrolls for electronic payment to Old Mutual in compliance with finance policies and procedures.
  • Legislative Compliance & Knowledge:
    • Stay informed of any changes to pension fund and tax laws.
    • Ensure that employees are informed and registered on Old Mutual’s digital platforms.
  • Employee Support:
    • Conduct information sessions for new employees to introduce them to the pension fund benefits and assist them in navigating related benefits.
    • Assist employees with structuring investments and ensuring they are switched correctly and on time by Old Mutual.
  • Pension Fund Operations:
    • Process and approve exit information received from Old Mutual weekly.
    • Transfer pension benefits to other pension providers upon withdrawal requests.
    • Attend to administrative matters concerning retired employees (pensioners), including issuing birthday cards, pensioner cards, sympathy letters, and other related benefits.
    • Manage administrative tasks for employees’ temporary and permanent disability claims, death claims, and retirement claims.
    • Administer Pension Powered Housing Loans.
    • Perform other ad hoc duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Grade 12 (Matric).
    • Relevant degree or diploma in pension fund administration is advantageous.
  • Experience:
    • 3-4 years of experience in pension fund member administration.
    • Knowledge of the Pension Fund Act.
    • Experience in payroll management.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (intermediate level).
    • Bilingual in English and Afrikaans; proficiency in a vernacular language is advantageous.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
