Position Overview
The Workshop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the repair and service of motor vehicles to ensure the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. This role includes managing resources efficiently, supervising staff, and ensuring that all repairs and services meet franchise specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and Service Vehicles
- Perform repairs and services in accordance with AMH standards and franchise specifications.
- Identify and order parts required for repairs and services.
- Notify the Foreman/Service Advisor promptly of any additional work needed and obtain authorization.
- Gather technical information for problem jobs from the Foreman or Master Technician.
- Record all oils and consumables used during the service.
- Workplace Safety and Cleanliness
- Ensure the vehicle is cleaned and maintain the cleanliness of work areas (e.g., seat and fender covers).
- Keep the work bay safe, clean, and organized at all times.
- Report any faulty or broken equipment to the Foreman/Workshop Manager.
- Tool Management
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are used according to safety regulations.
- Maintain the tools set in compliance with AMH standards.
- Staff Supervision and Training
- Supervise and guide staff in the use of tools and equipment.
- Mentor apprentices and share technical knowledge through practice and explanation.
- Administrative Tasks
- Ensure work hours are properly clocked and job cards are accurately filled out.
- Ensure all old parts are returned appropriately or disposed of in line with company policies.
- Handle additional reasonable requests as needed by Management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualification: Qualified Technician.
- Experience: 2-3 years as a Workshop Foreman.
Skills and Personal Attributes
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to repair and service vehicles to high standards.
- Leadership Skills: Experience in supervising and training workshop staff.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring all work is carried out with precision and in compliance with company policies.
