Job Purpose
The Trainee Manager at Ackermans will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer shopping experiences by ensuring efficient stock replenishment, effective merchandising, maintaining housekeeping standards, and managing transactions at the till points. This role requires managing the day-to-day operations of the store while driving sales growth, maintaining stock standards, and leading the team to deliver a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Optimization: Implement business processes effectively to drive store sales and exceed sales targets.
- Profit Management: Optimize profits through cost management and adherence to the budget.
- Human Resource Management: Ensure professional HR practices in staffing, talent management, and team development.
- Stock Management: Efficiently manage stock levels to meet demand and maintain store standards.
- Customer Service: Ensure that customer expectations are met and exceeded.
- Team Leadership: Lead the team by providing clear communication and management of job performance.
- Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Store Image: Manage store operations to ensure optimal brand representation and maintain high standards of the store.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience:
- 3 years of retail experience, including at least 1 year in a management position.
- Strong merchandise management, stock, and cost control skills.
- Excellent focus on customer service and maintaining store standards.
- Leadership: Proven ability to influence and lead a team effectively.
- Development Focus: Strong orientation towards personal and team development.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English (both written and verbal). Proficiency in a second official language would be an advantage.
- Education:
- Matric or equivalent qualification.
- Further qualifications in retail or business management would be an advantage.
