Position Overview
Twizza is seeking a Production Manager to oversee and optimize manufacturing processes in its Middelburg facility. This role requires a strong leader to ensure production consistently meets budgets, goals, and targets while maintaining high operational standards. The Production Manager will be responsible for managing a team, ensuring equipment maintenance, and driving efficiency improvements across production lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Oversight:
Ensure that production consistently meets budgetary goals, targets, and due dates, creating value for the business. - Stock and Variance Management:
Address stock losses and store variances, and monitor line productivity and labor efficiency. - Resource Management:
Manage headcount budgets, overtime, and control power and fuel consumption. - Deviation Management:
Quickly identify deviations and trends, and formulate action plans for recovery and improvement. - SHEQ Compliance:
Ensure adherence to Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) management practices. Conduct “Risk Audits” and ensure regulatory and Quality Management System (QMS) compliance. - Process Optimization:
Align and improve work procedures and processes to ensure smooth flow across departments. - Team Leadership:
Manage, develop, and motivate the production team to meet production objectives. Promote team development in line with the Care & Growth philosophy and foster a culture of teamwork. - Operational Excellence:
Organize and direct day-to-day operations to exceed customer expectations while increasing production capacity and minimizing costs. - Performance Management:
Track and optimize productivity, set standards and metrics, and ensure effective return on assets. - Safety and Hygiene:
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene practices, and personnel safety standards within the production area. - Project and ERP Implementation:
Oversee the implementation of new projects, address capacity constraints, and ensure ERP systems are properly implemented. - Quality and Certification:
Assist the QA team with ISO standard formulation and certification processes. - Internal/External Audits:
Support internal and external audits as necessary.
Minimum Requirements
Qualification:
- Grade 12
- Bachelor’s degree (essential)
- Degree in Manufacturing/Technical (added advantage)
Experience:
- 5-10 years of relevant corporate experience, particularly in the food, beverage, or high-speed packaging industry.
- At least 3 years in a managerial role with a proven track record of delivering results in manufacturing.
- Computer literacy
Skills:
- Strong leadership abilities, with the ability to create accountability and lead by example.
