Job Purpose

Key Responsibilities
- Business Plan Execution: Implement departmental business plans that support the merchandise strategy for the SBU (Strategic Business Unit).
- Forecast Management: Manage departmental forecasts to meet agreed-upon growth and profitability targets.
- Merchandise Assortment Plans: Prepare and deliver assortment plans that align with the departmental strategy.
- Replenishment Planning: Ensure timely and sufficient inflows to maintain replenishment service levels for optimal departmental growth and profitability.
- Information Management: Provide accurate and timely merchandise information to minimize risks and capitalize on business opportunities.
- Project Management: Execute and manage project plans to achieve departmental objectives, if applicable.
Qualifications
- Essential:
- Grade 12 certificate.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- B. Comm./B. Science degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Science.
- National Diploma in Internal Auditing, Cost and Management Accounting, or Financial Information Systems.
Knowledge Required
- Retail Merchandise Cycle: Understanding of buying, planning, logistics, and stores management.
- Replenishment: Knowledge of seasonal and non-seasonal replenishments.
- Retail Market: Understanding of the South African retail clothing market, customers, and competitors.
Skills Required
- Commercial Thinking: Strong commercial acumen and numerical skills.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to think analytically and solve problems logically.
- Relationship-Building: Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Planning & Time Management: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Experience Required
- Minimum:
- 2-3 years of previous experience in product planning in a relevant retail or FMCG environment.
- Preferred:
- Experience in replenishment and assortment planning.
- Previous store management or planning experience (1-2 years).
- Familiarity with general logistics and supply chain processes.
- Experience with planning systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft software, especially Excel (advanced skills preferred).
