Position Overview

The Machine Operator will be responsible for operating machinery within the Cellars Department, ensuring maximum productivity, quality standards, and safety measures are met. The successful candidate will assist with general duties, machine maintenance, and contribute to an efficient and cost-effective operation.


Key Responsibilities

Production & Quality Control

  • Operate machinery efficiently to ensure high productivity and the production of quality products.
  • Monitor and ensure that no sub-standard products leave the department.
  • Be involved in line changeovers and ensure these are completed within the allocated time.
  • Conduct machine cleaning and part changes, and return used parts to the change part store.
  • Report any machine issues to the relevant teams and complete necessary checklists.
  • Handle company products with care, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Regularly clean and lubricate machines, and report any issues to the Machine Controller (MC), Artisan, and Production Coordinator (PC).
  • Open job cards for machine breakdowns or work arising.
  • Participate in identifying and addressing losses and waste in the area.

Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Participate in MDT (Multi-Disciplinary Team) meetings to ensure optimal team performance.
  • Contribute to efforts aimed at maximizing productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Comply with company safety and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Matric or equivalent (essential).

Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar manufacturing or machine operator role (essential).

Skills & Competencies

  • Physical strength to handle products and machines effectively.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Basic understanding of machine maintenance and operations.
  • Ability to identify issues and troubleshoot machine problems.
