Purpose of the Job

The Buyer role focuses on executing the buying strategy for Medirite’s Healthcare category, encompassing product planning, selection, and procurement. This role ensures financial and profitability goals are met by aligning market trends, customer demands, and brand objectives. Collaboration with suppliers, marketing, and operational teams is essential to drive sales growth and customer satisfaction.


Job Objectives

  1. Product Range and Line Determination
    • Ensure market leadership through competitive pricing.
    • Maintain comprehensive category coverage aligned with strategic goals.
    • Handle effective range rationalization and ensure brand consistency.
    • Oversee administrative tasks across all areas of buying.
  2. Product Pricing Administration
    • Maintain cost and selling price competitiveness.
    • Base pricing decisions on market trends and competitor insights.
    • Utilize negotiation to meet pricing goals while maintaining confidentiality.
  3. Advertising and Promotions Management
    • Select promotional lines and manage pricing strategies.
    • Monitor competitor pricing continuously.
    • Ensure timely availability of stock at suppliers.
    • Provide accurate and timely information to marketing teams.
  4. Stock Level Management
    • Address stock level concerns in stores and distribution centers.
    • Monitor price movements and shortages, providing proactive advisories.
  5. International Sourcing
    • Identify gaps and international trends to source profitable products.
    • Oversee the supply chain process from sourcing to delivery.
    • Optimize merchandising layout based on consumer behavior patterns.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Senior Certificate.
  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a buying role, preferably in a large retail organization.
  • 3+ years’ experience in buying within retail/wholesale/FMCG environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sourcing, supplier management, and complex vendor negotiations.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of supply chain concepts and systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cost and selling price factors.
  • Familiarity with category sales trade-offs and retail profitability drivers.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office 365, particularly Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of the retail value chain.
