Job Overview
Unitrans is seeking a Code 14 Driver with experience in operating refrigerated vehicles with tail lifts to join their team. The role requires the safe and efficient transportation of goods while maintaining adherence to company protocols and industry standards.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Licensing
- Grade 12 (National Certificate).
- Code EC driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
Experience & Skills
- 3 years of experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles.
- 3 years of experience with Superlink/Interlink/combination vehicles.
- Proven experience with refrigerated vehicles and tail lifts.
- Defensive driving expertise.
- Knowledge of reporting procedures for emergencies and defects.
- Familiarity with vehicle inspections and fire extinguisher operation.
- Expertise in vehicle loading and offloading techniques.
Additional Requirements
- Availability for shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Own reliable transport to and from work.
- Medically fit with a clean criminal record.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Vehicle Operations
- Prepare and operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles.
- Transport refrigerated goods safely and efficiently.
- Perform loading and offloading tasks with a focus on refrigeration and tail-lift systems.
Documentation & Compliance
- Accurately handle all required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
Maintenance & Safety
- Conduct vehicle inspections to ensure operational readiness.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles, uniforms, and PPE.
- Adhere to safety regulations and promote safe work practices.
Training & Evaluations
- Complete medical evaluations, induction programs, and USCS training modules.
- Participate in practical driving evaluations and verification of a clean criminal record.
