Job Overview

Unitrans is seeking a skilled Code 14 Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to operate ultra-heavy vehicles for transport, loading, and offloading activities. The role requires a focus on safety, efficiency, and adherence to operational standards.


Minimum Requirements

  • Education:
    • Grade 12 (Matric) or National Certificate.
  • Licenses:
    • Valid Code EC driver’s license with PrDP.
  • Experience:
    • 3 years driving ultra-heavy vehicles.
    • 3 years operating Superlink/Interlink/combination vehicles.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Proficiency in defensive driving techniques.
    • Knowledge of emergency procedures, vehicle inspections, and fire extinguisher use.
    • Familiarity with vehicle loading and offloading techniques.
    • Own reliable transport to and from work.
    • Clean criminal record.
    • Medically fit.
    • Must reside in the Mahikeng and Lichtenburg areas.
    • Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and shifts.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Operations:
    • Prepare vehicles for trips and operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles.
    • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and functionality.
    • Maintain safe driving practices and follow traffic regulations.
  • Transport and Logistics:
    • Load, transport, and offload vehicles in compliance with company standards.
    • Handle required documentation related to trips and deliveries.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
    • Successfully complete medical evaluations, induction processes, and practical driving evaluations.
    • Adhere to company safety procedures and participate in ongoing training.
  • Housekeeping:
    • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of vehicles, uniforms, and PPE.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Follow supervisor instructions and work collaboratively with team members.
