Purpose of Job
To create and compile short, medium, and long-term production, stonework, and infrastructure deployment plans for the colliery. This includes generating accompanying reports to support strategic, budget planning, and future execution while ensuring execution aligns with the plan.
Key Accountabilities
Planning & Scheduling
- Perform strategic and budget optimal planning and scheduling of production, stonework, and infrastructure using dedicated mine planning software.
- Apply geological information, mining restrictions, and performance targets to create realistic, efficient schedules.
- Maintain a 24-month rolling forecast for production and stonework within the mine planning software.
- Plan production-related activities within work block schedules, considering future tons and qualities based on ground conditions and capacity.
- Conduct annual asset management for the life of the colliery, including mineable reserves.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all license-to-operate requirements, including Mining Rights, Environmental, Water, and Survey regulations.
- Annually update and manage the water model for safe storage of dirty water underground.
Reporting & Meetings
- Support colliery targets by assisting with production, stonework, and infrastructure planning and scheduling.
- Prepare monthly and annual mine planning presentations and reports.
- Attend relevant meetings and provide strategic insights to key stakeholders.
Formal Education & Experience
Formal Education
- Grade 12
- Mining-related Diploma or B Tech
- Mine Overseer Certificate (preferred but not essential)
Experience
- 6+ years of relevant experience in mine planning.
