Purpose of Job
To oversee engineering maintenance processes within the designated area of responsibility, ensuring that various mining teams meet production targets while adhering to the principles of Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Maintenance (QCDSM).
Key Accountabilities
Maintenance & Strategy Management
- Manage and execute daily maintenance strategies to meet department KPIs.
- Ensure maintenance activities (repair or replacement) are carried out efficiently.
- Oversee and control maintenance costs and budgets.
- Manage equipment downtime and ensure adherence to maintenance programs.
Operational & Engineering Compliance
- Implement operational projects and ensure engineering compliance.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the appointed area.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to engineering principles, governance, and legislative standards.
- Manage Condition Monitoring programs and execute Predictive Maintenance.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure top-tier safety performance, focusing on Zero Harm, Zero Fatalities, and reducing the LWDCR.
- Strive for continuous improvement in key safety metrics and compliance rates.
Team & Performance Management
- Manage the recruitment, training, coaching, and career development of team members.
- Ensure team performance aligns with organizational goals (e.g., absenteeism, turnover, engagement).
- Track and manage vacancies, staff establishment, and industry average turnover rates.
Cost Control & Support
- Ensure cost control measures are in place to achieve production volumes within the set budget.
- Coordinate planning with departments to meet operational targets.
Qualifications & Experience
Formal Education
- Grade 12 / N3 with Mathematics, Physical Science, and English.
- Trade Certificate (Electro Mechanic).
Experience
- Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in engineering maintenance.
