Job Overview
Unitrans is looking for experienced Professional Bus Drivers to transport passengers safely and efficiently on scheduled routes. The role involves adhering to traffic regulations, maintaining the bus, ensuring passenger safety, and delivering excellent customer service.
Minimum Requirements
- Education:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or National Certificate.
- Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license (Categories CE – G, CE – PG, and C – G).
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- Experience:
- At least 5 years in a similar driving position.
- Skills:
- Mastery of defensive and preventive driving techniques.
- Strict adherence to traffic laws and company policies.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Safety and Compliance:
- Read and adhere to the company’s code of conduct, driver’s manual, and HST regulations.
- Inspect the bus for deviations or malfunctions and report findings.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety measures.
- Use seat belts and ensure all passengers do the same.
- Block wheels with chocks when parking.
- Passenger Transport:
- Transport passengers safely and punctually on established routes.
- Ensure passenger comfort by controlling lighting, heating, and ventilation.
- Maintain a positive attitude toward passengers and address concerns professionally.
- Operational Responsibilities:
- Keep accurate logbooks of all trips, hours, and activities.
- Participate in scheduled training and DSS sessions with supervisors.
- Ensure the bus is refueled, clean, and well-maintained.
- Avoid unnecessary route deviations and adhere to authorized stops.
- Incident Management:
- Report all incidents, near misses, or vehicle damage immediately to the supervisor.
- Record and report accidents or significant events during trips.
