Job Description
MAN Johannesburg Truck & Bus is currently seeking a Debtors Clerk to handle the full debtor’s function at the dealership. This position is ideal for an experienced individual with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting and bookkeeping.
Position Overview
The Debtors Clerk will be responsible for ensuring the proper accounting and reconciliation of all accounts, as well as managing the collection of outstanding dealership funds. Accuracy in accounting computations and data entry is critical for success in this role.
Specific Responsibilities
- Debtors Control:
- Assist with opening new accounts and conducting accurate reference checks of debtors.
- Update reconciliations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Escalate any account problems to relevant departmental managers (e.g., Finance & Insurance).
- Monitor outstanding funds and changes in daily/monthly age analysis.
- Ensure all information on customer accounts is accurate.
- Statements and Payments:
- Compile debtor statements and send them to debtors.
- Ensure accurate allocation of deposits to the correct accounts, matching them with invoices and statements.
- Follow up on all outstanding debtor payments.
- Build rapport with debtors to ensure smooth payment processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Education:
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Experience:
- Strong knowledge of Excel.
- Previous experience as a Debtors Clerk within the Commercial Vehicle Industry (advantageous).
- A qualification in finance is advantageous.
