Job Overview
Unitrans is looking for a dedicated Inspector to join the Passenger Division in Secunda. This role is crucial in ensuring passenger transport operations meet safety, operational, and quality service standards. The Inspector will inspect vehicles, monitor driver conduct, assess route compliance, and address customer concerns to maintain high operational standards and enhance passenger experiences.
Minimum Requirements
- Education:
- Grade 12/Matric/National Senior Certificate.
- Experience:
- Up to 2 years in a similar role.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Attention to Detail: Ability to spot non-compliance or safety risks.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding vehicle maintenance, safety standards, and transport regulations.
- Problem-Solving: Strong investigative and issue-resolution skills.
- Communication: Professional interaction with staff, drivers, and passengers.
- Organisational Skills: Record-keeping and time management proficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Inspections
- Inspect vehicles regularly to confirm compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
- Verify route compliance and adherence to operational schedules.
- Monitor driver behavior concerning traffic regulations, company policies, and customer service standards.
2. Compliance Monitoring
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including safety, licensing, and environmental standards.
- Identify and report non-conformities, recommending corrective measures.
3. Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain thorough records of inspections, incidents, and compliance checks.
- Generate detailed reports and suggest operational improvements.
4. Incident Management
- Respond promptly to complaints or incidents, conduct investigations, and document outcomes.
- Collaborate with drivers, maintenance teams, and management to address issues effectively.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate inspection findings and recommendations to management and other departments.
- Provide training and guidance to staff and drivers on compliance and best practices.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Analyze operational performance trends and recommend process improvements.
- Participate in audits, safety drills, and other quality assurance activities.
